Prek3 Newsletter
September 27-October 1
Hi PreK 3 families, here are some reminders:
-
The mornings are finally cooling off! Please be sure to label the sweaters that are being worn so we can ensure it goes back with the correct student. Also, please label mass ties, mass sweaters, etc.
-
Please be sure to send your child with a reusable water bottle with an attached straw that could be closed instead of plastic water bottles with a screw on top.
-
Due to limited storage space we ask that each student bring a washable, towel sized blanket.
Here is a Peek in our week….
Review Letters: A-C
New Letter of the Week: D
Vocabulary words: *Wonder
*Experiment
Math
We will be reviewing shape sorting, sorting by size and color. Position words will be introduced and discussed (behind, in front, in between, etc.). Each day this week, we will have each child pull 3-4 position words from random and they will have to complete the “obstacle course”!
Science
This week we will be discussing “curiosity” and what it means to be curious. How do you think scientists are curious? What tools do they use? We will be exploring the world and tools that could help aid us in the curiosity we all have. Magnifying glasses, rulers, flashlights, and so much more will be used this week. What was your child’s favorite science tool?
Religion
As we slowly begin to approach the holidays, we are going to acknowledge everything we have that we are thankful for! Last week we discussed God’s Creation 1-3, this week will continue God’s Creations 3-6.
Before each snack and meal we pray “Bless Us, O Lord”:
Bless us, O Lord,
and these, thy gifts,
which we are about to receive through thy bounty,
through Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Reading/Handwriting/Art
Bubbles are such a fun way to begin experiments and explore, when we read “Soapy Scientist” we will predict what could happen when we do the same experiment in class and how it is the same or how it is different. When we start discussing the things we are curious about around us we will refer back to the book “I Wonder”. This book is about what we wonder about, and how everyone has different questions about different things. We will be putting together our very own name puzzles and identifying the letters in our names. In art class, they have been working very hard on creating a ladybug!
